We're (way) over 40. Deal with it.

Bald guys. You gotta love them. I mean, at least you have to love them more than someone with a comb-over. Or a rug. How about those guys who insist on always wearing a hat, as though we don’t know they’re fallow ground on the top?
Come on, guys. You’re going bald. You know it. We all know it. Wearing a hat, a wig or getting hair plugs isn’t going to change that. Women over 40 have an eye for that. It’s actually more pathetic than (more…)

When I was in high school with maybe a 24 inch waist, I wore a size 5/6 and sometimes a size 7/8. Now I weigh more than a tad more (some things I don’t share. . . ) and guess what? I still wear an 8! And sometimes a 6! And sometimes a 10. And now someone with a 24 inch waist wears a 0.
No, ladies, they aren’t making them smaller. Females, that is. They’re just making clothes bigger, so you and I can make believe we still wear the same size as we used to. (more…)

Or, you’re getting ready for a party, you ask your partner how a particular dress looks, and he says, “It looks fine” or “I don’t know; it looks alright”? Like, he thinks that’s helpful?
It’s a dilemma, especially at this age, when things that looked great on us in 1980 now look (more…)

But I’m taking my out-of-work time this year to do a much closer inspection of what to keep (and store) and what to give away (or throw away, like in the case of stretched out undies).
Like me, you probably have tons of clothes that are simply no longer right for you, either because (more…)

For the past three weeks or so I’ve been vigorously planning my high school reunion (which is my way of an explanation as to why I haven’t blogged). Besides getting some very unsolicited information from class members I reached by phone (like how DH’s old friend hoards gold coins and lost his wife because he wouldn’t use them on a down payment on a house), I’ve discovered that I’m not alone in hoarding things from the past (though, as you might remember, I did finally manage to throw out my old Xerox job appraisals from the late 90s. . . ).
But I’m happy to report that some people are even worse than I am. (more…)
