Beyond Babedom

We're (way) over 40. Deal with it.

Picture That

I’ve always wondered how weird I am – so have a lot of other people – but I mean in a very specific way. For example, if I come across a word that isn’t spelled like it seems it should be spelled, I find myself respelling it in  my head, over and over again: B-R-O-C-C-O-L-I. And when I think about a particular date, either in the future or past, I tend to “picture” it, with Read the rest of this entry »

Going Brazilian

Ever since we noticed we had pubic hair, we had to worry about it showing, mostly in the summer at the beach (at least in our day). At first our only option was shaving – and shaving bumps. Then came Nair, with its toxic, perfume-y, disgusting smell. When we finally discovered the “Brazilian.” all we had to worry about then was the pain.

Shame on Me

Let me warn you upfront: this post is  not going to be funny or entertaining. It’s going to be a confession.

Every time I read about 15 year old Phoebe Prince, the girl who could no longer face the harassment, taunting, threats and stalking and took her own life, it makes me cry – and cringe. I realize how easy it is to become one of those bullies, because I was one once, too. Read the rest of this entry »
