The Business of Traveling

When you travel on business, someone else makes your bed, cleans the bathroom after you and delivers your dinner. Unless, of course, you’re a man, in which case probably your wife does that for you most of the time, anyway. Which explains why women over 40 – more than men – enjoy business travel.

Stop Spending My Money on Sports

You think colleges are for providing higher education? Grow up. These days, their real job is to provide entertainment for the masses of sports fanatics and spend billions of dollars on coaches, stadiums and players. . . who, quite often, don’t graduate (or “pass” without ever having to go to class).

Slam – You’re Down

Remember Slam Books? If you don’t, let me enlighten you. A Slam Book was something many women over 40 have experienced in grammar school – usually  a spiral notebook or a bunch of papers stapled together (oh, the world before Staples!) that dedicated a page to each person. The Girls with the Ugly Tattoos

I went to see “The Help” the other night and was a little disappointed. The movie did follow the book (which I really liked) very closely, and it was – mostly – very satisfying. However, one thing really bothered me: the main character, Skeeter, who was supposed to be tall and gangly and unattractive was . . . Emma Stone! Now, really, Emma Stone? Unattractive?
