Women who don’t normally spend a lot of time in the kitchen still sometimes find themselves walking the grocery store aisles. Which leads me to this burning question: what idiot decides which products go in each aisle?

I don’t know how they measured it, but scientists have discovered that the world’s dust has literally doubled in the last century. Judging from my house, I’d have to agree. I am not the world’s best house cleaner. In fact, I stink at keeping my house neat and clean, mostly because I hate doing it. Oh, sure, I can make it presentable (at least I think it’s presentable) when I’m expecting company, but there always seems to be something more important or interesting to do than to sweep. I’ve found myself with some time on my hands recently (especially since I’ve finally put away all the Christmas decorations – almost) and I got to thinking: what are the things I really love to do? I’m not talking about Things with a capital T; I’m talking about all the small things we really relish doing. And I’m wondering why we don’t do them more often. I think we all have stuff that just makes us happy, that we look forward to doing, that we enjoy whenever we do it. For me, some of it is simple, do-it-all-the-time stuff, but mostly, it’s just the stuff that makes me smile. After all, isn’t that what life is all about? (more…)
