As I was shaking the snow from my bushes, for some reason I started thinking about the whole mid-life crisis issue. Not that it had anything to do with my task, but you know how your mind starts to wander. Well, after this huge snow storm I had a ton of snow to shake off and lots of time to think. There are some definite advantages to being over 40 (and then some): no more teenage acne (for most of us), no homework (except those of us in grad school) and no more gym class (though some of us actually enjoyed it. . .). Oh, and I almost forgot, we go through menopause. (more…)

I’ve found myself with some time on my hands recently (especially since I’ve finally put away all the Christmas decorations – almost) and I got to thinking: what are the things I really love to do? I’m not talking about Things with a capital T; I’m talking about all the small things we really relish doing. And I’m wondering why we don’t do them more often. I think we all have stuff that just makes us happy, that we look forward to doing, that we enjoy whenever we do it. For me, some of it is simple, do-it-all-the-time stuff, but mostly, it’s just the stuff that makes me smile. After all, isn’t that what life is all about? (more…)
