Now that summer is really, really over, I’ve begun the summer/winter clothes exchange. I’m happy to report that, with our roof-to-basement renovation a few years ago, I was able to include an actual walk-in closet/dressing room that minimizes a lot of the switch-out. But I’m taking my out-of-work time this year to do a much closer inspection of what to keep (and store) and what to give away (or throw away, like in the case of stretched out undies).

You know what really bothers me? The fact that women still change their names when they get married.
You may think this is a non issue. After all, isn’t that just common practice? Exactly my point. Now, here was a surreal experience.
I won a free house cleaning a couple of years ago at a Chamber of Commerce event. Great, I thought. It would be nice to have someone clean my house before the holidays, right?

Don’t tell me this doesn’t bother you. You’re checking out at the grocery store and the pimply faced cashier hands you your change (never counting it out, of course) and he says, “Have a nice day, ma’am.”

For the past three weeks or so I’ve been vigorously planning my high school reunion (which is my way of an explanation as to why I haven’t blogged). Besides getting some very unsolicited information from class members I reached by phone (like how DH’s old friend hoards gold coins and lost his wife because he wouldn’t use them on a down payment on a house), I’ve discovered that I’m not alone in hoarding things from the past (though, as you might remember, I did finally manage to throw out my old Xerox job appraisals from the late 90s. . . ).
