Beyond Babedom

We're (way) over 40. Deal with it.

Those Aren’t Fighting Words, Dear

This is an absolutely incredible and eye-opening story about a woman dealing with her husband’s midlife crisis, published last week in the New York Times Modern Love column.

But wait. This isn’t the divorce story you think it is. Neither is it a begging-him-to-stay story. It’s a story about hearing your husband say “I don’t love you anymore” and deciding not to believe him. And what can happen as a result.

If you’ve been there, worry about getting there or think you’ll never be there, read this. I mean it.

oh, those dreaded words…been there, done that….and took a trip down that river “da nile”…

  2. Lou says:

“I so don’t belong in your “Beyond Babedom” chat; but just wanted to offer a guy’s perspective to the whole “I don’t love you anymore” comment.  Instead of shock and tears, why not say, “Hey, you feel it too?”  or “I was just about to say the same thing, how weird is that?!”  Remember, the person who needs the relationship least, has more power.”

GREAT article. My midlife crisis was also rife with bankruptcy, foreclosure, cancer, a 6 month separation, affair, and a loss of a 12 year business.

The ONLY reason we were able to keep the family together was because of the attitude this author displayed in the article.

Additionally, my wife and I BOTH decided to fight a little bit more on the aging issue. Our beauty and love is reflected both inside and outside and we are having the time of our lives! http://www.makeyourwifehot.com

    Great post…great site!
