Beyond Babedom

We're (way) over 40. Deal with it.

Visions of Sugarplums

“When I grow up, I’m going to have dessert first!

Remember saying that? Or “I’ll have as much ice cream as I want!”

Why is it that, now that we’re “in charge” of our own lives, we still have to follow someone elses rules? I absolutely love ice cream – even drove an ice cream truck – but the idea of having ice cream whenever I want goes against all those new “rules” we have as adults. DON’T because it’s: not healthy, will make you fat, etc. etc. etc. Why the hell can’t we do what we want? Especially at Christmas time?

Well, this year, I’m going to enjoy all the holiday goodies. I’ll eat the cookies I bake (they are sooooo good); I’ll have a piece of that sinful pecan pie; I’ll even have some ribbon candy (even though it probably won’t taste nearly as good as I think it will). And, yes, I’ll push myself to exercise a little more, to make up for it.

After all, I’m not an idiot. I still have to look in the mirror every morning.

I hear ya! My brain still thinks I can eat whatever I want and not pay the price for it, but my body knows better. I just don’t care. It’s the holidays and if I put on a few pounds, so what! I am far from obese and don’t expect to have the body I had when I was 25. Enjoy! Life is too short!! Merry Christmas!
