Beyond Babedom

We're (way) over 40. Deal with it.

Free Pass!

cast-KellyREPOST: I’ve been remiss the last month, but expect a new post real soon! In the meantime, here’s a reposting of an earlier blog

Does every couple recognize the “free pass” system? You know; when you each have maybe 3 people each with whom an extramarital, “romantic liaison” would be permissible? If you don’t, then I strongly suggest you consider having this conversation, for several reasons. Not the least of which is the guiltless ability to have a fling with Denzel Washington (Number 1 on my list).

So, why have this never-will-happen -liaison permission? For one thing, it’s fun to see who your partner finds irresistible. Do they resemble you? Are they your complete opposite? If so, what does that mean. . . or does it mean anything? Does it matter that George Clooney – who has lots of hair – is my second choice, when Gary is bald? And does it matter that Gary drools over Kelly Carlson (Kimber on Nip/Tuck), the blond bombshell?

Funny thing is, rather than make me jealous, I enjoy helping him pick his 3 choices. After all, shouldn’t I have a say who I’m going to share him with?

Who are your choices? Your partner’s choices? Or does this really freak you out?

Lucille- you totally freaked me out! I was thinking that I would NOT be cool with this until I checked it out- nice hook!

    Geeeeessshhhh!

It’s been so long since I’ve been in a relationship that I wouldn’t dare propose a strategy as silly as this to my partner. I would be happy with just one girlfriend….

Romantic Liaison sounds sexy!! I like it. I’m not married though, so I don’t have to worry about that. (lol)

I think it matters whether your partner is “strong” or not. Mine’s not. It also is a problem that I’m the least jealous person on the planet. I realize this could be very unsettling for a partner, I don’t really know why though. You wanna go with someone else? C – YA! I’ll find happiness soon enough – it’s just around the bend. There have been some girls in my past that for some reason or other won’t leave my memory; Danicel, a still gorgeous girl from CA whom I met and dated while she was visiting NYC back in 1983, and Sonia, who I met on the steps of the NY Public Library while on lunch… that first kiss made me dizzy and I almost fell down the steps in front of the entire lunchtime crowd!! (kissed at first meeting! I know – I was a quick mover back then). Sonia looked like a latin Beverly Johnson and had a gold bead piercing on the side of her nose!!! something that otherwise would have repulsed me (back then) but somehow turned me on.

These days, I’m entirely hypnotized by Selma Hayek – she is number 1 – 2 and 3.

I recently eloped to Las Vegas – I’m a 52 year old newlywed! My husband thinks Reese Witherspoon is a “sweetheart” (his words). I think she is a wonderful actress and I like the fact you never hear anything scandelous about her. His # 2 is Penelope Cruz and # 3 is Drew Barrymore. Am I jealous – not at all. What goes on in the head and what goes on in the bed are two different things!
